Music video 2 Analysis Part 2- Radiohead Burn the Witch
Burn the witch- CAGED Analysis
Class
The class portrayed is mostly working class as all the residents of the `Modelvillage`` and the only upper class person that can be seen may be the town mayor as he is the controlling force and power of the village and all the citizens are obedient as he is the dominant.
Age
The most common age of the villagers is middle aged. However, the idea of the childhood can be scene in some scenes such as when the boy and the girl are on the dunking post and they seem like they are having fun. This is used in order to make the village look like a happy place to live and that the citizens are happy living there.
Gender
The two genders that can be seen in the video are female and male. As the video represents a pre-industrial society and Medieval Society, coming out as gay or lesbian was not common as society would not have accpeted it therefore people would have not said that they are gay or lesbian. This is reflected in the video as LGBT is ignored and not shown and only the dominant genders- male and female are shown. Furthermore, in the shot where the villagers are performing the morris dancing the female is being tied up which portrays a patriarchy and therefore represents the females as submissive as in that case the female is tied up therefore the males around her are dominant and she does not have the word.
Ethnicity
The video can be seen as being very discriminatory as a result of having all people being from a white background without having any ethnic diversity being shown. This can quote the society in the past as people were very close minded and narrowed believing that white people are the ruling and dominant society therefore being very discriminatory towards for example black people and segregating them. The video`s idea may be to date back that problem with ethnicity and discrimination which is still a current problem in the society we live in today, not just in the past.
Analyse the colouring of the video. Old style, some colours of the song can be quitew dull and unsaturated.
