Music Video 1 Analysis- Emile Sande Heaven
Emile Sande- Heaven Analysis
Social context
- Working class cubculture
- Ethnic minorities are shown for example the video is shot in Bethnal Green therefore in this area.
In the opening scene of the video we can see that there is a shot of a young women dressed in a bright red dress going down the stairs and suddenly dissappears in her shadow and the darkness approaching therefore this can symbolise that she is about to do something illegal. The red dress that she is wearing has connotations of sexuality and seducement therefore it can be relating to the dark side of the place where the video was shot which is Bethnal Green. This shot is taken from a high angle therefore it makes the girl look inferior and therefore relating to her status in society which is most likely to be from a working class subculture. The mise en scene of the place where the shot of the girl is taken at is looks quit derelict as a result of the unsaturated colours such as the colours of the bricks, which relates to the illegal activities that may be happening in the area of Bethnal Green. Emile Snde is standing at the window while signing throughout a great part of the video therefore it can show that while she is standing at the window she is witnessing all of the issues and problems that are going around this world and specifically this area. However at the position at the windown we can see that there is a ray of sunlight therefore referring to the positibve side and meaning that even at the darkest times there is hope for a change and therefore a better future for all the people. This
